Naked Saturday: 296.8 (-57.8)
September 6th, 2008 at 9:21 am (Physical, Progress, Weigh-ins)

Celebrating: Crossing into the 200’s! Defeating the troll under the 300-pound bridge! Achieving my end-of-the-year goal! Call it what you will, I’m under 300 pounds!
Grateful for: I had really wanted to take a picture of my purple toesies framing the 299.8 point. However, I must have hit that point somewhere around Wednesday night after spending all afternoon and evening in the emergency room. Wednesday, I had another pain crisis which resulted in a 7-pound drop only 30 hours later. My doctors seem to think I have stomach acid problems, which leads to such debilitating abdominal pain that I am rendered immobile, speechless, breathless, and lying in a pool of my own sweat on the carpeted floor of my office. I just don’t understand how severe indigestion could be making me lose this weight. I’m sticking with my ovarian cyst theory until proven otherwise. (Note: I don’t “bounce back” from these dramatic weight losses, as though they were pure water weight or some other scale game. No, I lose the outrageous amount of weight in the 2 days following the pain crisis and it never comes back. All I can figure is that a combination of eating right, exercising, and battling the huge, fluid-filled aliens living deep in my torso has spurred me to these current numbers.)
Starting weight: 354.6 pounds
Last week: 300.4
This week: 296.8
Change this week: -3.6
Total change: -57.8
Next milestone: 60 pounds gone
This week’s mantra: Be grateful. Be grateful. Be grateful.

Congrats on the loss and new milestone! Fantastic!
I’m not sure exactly the location of your pain. But have the doctors ruled out Gall Bladder? (Assuming you still have yours.) That pain is horrific. Like some one is stabbing you just under your right rib cage. I went to the ER three times before I convinced them there was more than IBS or Indigestion issues. If an ultrasound shows no stones and your blood work comes back normal and you still have the pain, have them do a gall bladder scan. http://www.webmd.com/digestive-disorders/gallbladder-scan
That will test the function of your gall bladder, which ended up being my issue. It didn’t have stones, but it just wasn’t working.
I hope you feel better soon!

Congratulations!
I was just going to talk about my gallbladder issues!
I hope the doctors have run very thorough tests. I’ve learned to demand that from here on… or at least, as long as I have medical insurance, ha!
But I was told I had an ulcer, lived with the pain for a year, and was feeling sicky almost 24/7. Finally they did an ultrasound, and my gallbladder is full of stones. My friend had the same thing as Vonavie, where her gallbladder had just stopped working, making her chronically ill. After having it removed she feels a lot better. I’m hoping that’s how it will be for me.
Not saying it’s your gallbladder, but you’re probably right, it isn’t what the doctors think it is, but something else. My sister was told she was just having indigestion issues, and it turned out to be her gallbladder. She was like, “As though I didn’t know the difference between really bad gas and something a lot more serious.”

YES! YES! YES! Congratulations!!! I was crossing my fingers for the 299, too, but holy crap, 296.8 is SO much better! You are so my hero.
PS Sorry about all the pain. Ugh! Who needs that while you’re trying to lose weight? I hope you find the source of it soon.
PPS I ate at MacCool’s pub last night and thought of you and i i eee, seeing as the first and last time I ate there, it was with you two. :)

hmm seems we all are on the digestive issues issues.. it might be worth your while to have an upper GI to see if you really do have reflux issues.. I am having a barium swallow and upper GI (same thing) on thursday.. not feeling well having bad burning and stomach pain.. ruling out to see if it is an ulcer on thursday as well.. get checked .. better safe than sorry!
