12 pounds. 12 pounds I put on in the month of December. Sure, I was deathly ill with bronchitis and some pneumonia-like ailment. Yes, it was the holiday season. I went home to my parents’ house (also known as The Wall of Food). Then, I broke my tailbone which effectively killed any exercise aspirations which may have arisen once I was getting over being sick.
But, really. 12 pounds. I am now 4 pounds away from my “original” Weight Watcher’s starting weight of 340.0 pounds in September, 2004. That means that it took me roughly 2 years to re-do the damage I’d undone. Fortunately, I’m still 40 pounds under my highest weight of approximately 375 (April, 2000).
But, yes. It’s a big enough wake-up call. Yes, it is the New Year and cliche as all hell, but I am back on the wagon. Finally. Yes, the slap in the face, courtesy of our old friend reality, has registered. I am officially back on the wagon.
Will I re-start the weigh-in count for entries? Probably.
I’ve been doing so much reading lately. Rumors had indicated changes in the WW program, but that’s nothing new. But, to follow Flex or Core? Then there’s South Beach. Calorie Counting. Grapefruit-and-shoelaces diet. I see merits to each plan, and it probably doesn’t matter, really, if I just stick with it. If I find one that I can stick with.) I picked up the new materials from WW, and re-calculated my flex points. I reviewed the (very minor) changes in the program. I think I might attempt to fly solo on this one, once I can weigh myself on my own scale. We’ll see.
