Turn the ship around

Goals for this week:

  1. Write down everything I eat, without trying to restrict or judge.
  2. No fast food.
  3. Journal daily.

Am I going to let the fact that goal #3 is already spoiled (by not posting yesterday) ruin things? No, no I am not. Am I at all concerned that my perfectionism, my all-or-nothing thinking, and my long track record of “fits and starts” may transform this little experiment (to just set a few goals a week and then see how things go) into another little disaster?

Yes.

But, the idea is this. A one-week goal means that in 7 days, I get to re-evaluate. Means that I only have one week of failure and then I can do whatever I need to do to attempt success the next week. For instance, changing the goal to “journal every other day” may be a perfectly reasonable, and may keep me pointed in the right direction (successes) rather than floundering where I’ve been (failures).
